Jenkin Jones (otherwise Benjamin Jones) on 29 August 1787 at 10 o'clock in the morning in the parish of Llanbadarn Trefeglwys mingled a certain deadly poison to whit White Arsenic with a certain water gruel which he gave to his wife, Elinor. She ate it and suffered distemper and sickness until 5 o'clock in the afternoon when she died (WALES 4/904/1).
Paid Watkin Baynam, joiner, 14/- for coffin to bury Jenkin Jones, convict who was executed last Spring Great Session for murder (Quarter Session 22.4.89). Ordered for execution on 14th April.
Gloucester Journal Monday 28 April "Benjamin Jones was executed on Monday at Cardigan."
