William Monkhouse and Thomas Robson (otherwise Robinson) both weavers of Penrith guilty of having forged a receipt in the name of John Nicholson of Carlisle for £6. 2. 8d on 1st September 1753.
According to Quarter Sessions papers both were hanged having been kept in prison for seven weeks in the period 13th July to 5th October. Earliest execution date would be Saturday 24 August (though a more likely one would be a week or a fortnight later).
