John Winship guilty of the murder of Grace Smith, by giving her to drink a corrosive Mercury sublimate, in the parish of Bishopwearmouth on 12^th March 1785 so that she died on 16^th March. Grace Smith was his maidservant and was given the drink in order to procure an abortion.
