Robert Moore murdered Edward Watson 27 who he shot in a plantation at Fewston on 31 May 1953.
They had gone shooting together. Robert Moore said he shot a phesant and then Edward Watson grabbed the gun and said 'you have caught me'. Robert Moore then said that he started pulling on the barrel and the gun went off 3 or 4 times. He said then that he decided to bury him and carried him off the a wood and went he was putting him into a hole he felt money in Edward Watson's pockets which he took thinking that he might need to leave the country.
They were both car dealers. The court heard that Robert Moore had a grievance against Edward Watson because he had sold him a car with a cracked chasis and had taken him to an isolated wood, shot him and stolen £100 from him.
