Thomas Dodd (of the parish of Pool) in the parish of Castle Caereinion on 17 December 1783 stole a gelding (value £7) belonging to John Brookes: Also in the parish of Newtown on 11 October 1783 stole a mare (value £15) belonging to James Evans (WALES 4/192/7).
Shrewsbury Chronicle Saturday 24 April reports he was ordered for execution on Tuesday 27 April. Shrewsbury Chronicle Saturday 1 May carries an "eye witness" account of his execution which report it retracts in its Saturday 8 May edition. Finally on Saturday 22 May it reports "On Tuesday last the respite for Dodd expired and he was executed accordingly." NOTE "Last" does not necessarily mean the immediately preceding one. He had been respited for a fortnight.
