Nicholas Burton guilty of the highway robbery of Elizabeth Price in the parish of Rowley Regis on 30th May 1790: robbing her of a tin snuff box (value at 2d) and 8 copper halfpennies. He was also charged with her rape. I have found four respites for Burton (1) dated 7th August for a week, (2) dated 25th August for 14 days, (3) dated 11th October for a week, and (4) dated 23rd October until further orders: which last implies he was not to be hanged. As he is one of the few not recorded in St Mary, Stafford Burial Register I presume he did not hang.
