John Johnson, aged 19, found guilty on an indictment for a burglary in the dwelling house of William West Hughes in the parish of St Mary, Newington on 4th August 1786: stealing therefrom a linen patchwork quilt (valued at 2/6), a linen tablecloth (valued at 2/-), a whalebone walking stick (valued at 6d), a hair locket set in gold (valued at 3/-) and a base metal candlestick (valued at 5/-). He had been found guilty at the previous Summer Assizes but judgement was reserved for the opinion of the judges.
