Zachariah Smith, aged 43, found guilty on an indictment for a burglary in the dwelling house of Thomas Harffy in the parish of Cuckfield on 19^th November 1782: stealing therefrom a piece of printed cotton measuring 15 yards (valued at 40/-), a piece of linen cloth measuring 15 yards (valued at 18/-), an other piece of linen cloth measuring 12 yards (valued at 24/-), a piece of Russia linen cloth measuring 12 yards (valued at 14/-), 2 linen handkerchiefs (valued at 2/-), a pair of metal silver plated knee buckles (valued at 3/-) and £4 in money numbered.
