John Scott was convicted of the murderof Hannah Stocks.
They had been living together for nearly four years and had a child of about that age. Hannah Stocks became pregnant again and about 6 months into the term John Scott attempted to give her an abortion by getting her to drink a quantity of bitter apple which she pretended to drink .
He then mixed up some arsenic with treacle and put it on the point of a knofe and said that if she did not take it that he would stab her.
