Charlotte Bryant murdered her husband Frederick Bryant 39 by poisoning him with arsenic at Coombe, Sherbourne, Dorset on 22 December 1935.
Charlotte Bryant had a gypsy lover and decided that she wanted to be with him and so poisoned her husband with arsenic. She first tried to murder him after they had moved to Coombe in May 1935 but he recovered. Later he was taken ill again on 11 December it was determined that he was suffering from gastro-enteritis and that he would recover but he later died on 22 December. During the autopsy they discovere 4 grains of arsenic and when they searched the house they found a tin that had contained weedkiller which had been thrown out with the rubbish. They also found traces of arsenic on shelves and in Charlotte Bryant's pockets.
