George Gardner murdered Sarah Kirby. They were both servants in the house of Mr Edge at Outhill, Studley. He shot her with his masters gun. He said it was an accident but the court heard that he had spoken several times to people about killing the girl. After the murder he ran off with the gun and powder flask.
