Bartholomew Quailn was tried at the Summer Assizes of 1790 for the murder of his wife The jury brought in a special verdict, i.e. he was found guilty of the crime but could not decide whether the crime was murder or manslaughter The case was referred to the King's Bench where he was found guilty of murder He was hanged on Kennington Common in Surrey on Monday 7th February 1791.
