Francis Land murdered his girlfriend Sarah Ellen Johnson 24 whose throat he cut at 3 Waterhouse Place, Rochdale on 12 December 1930.
Sarah Johnson had left her husband to go and live with Francis Land. When convicted he maintained that he was innocent.
