Thomas Acomb Mouncer was convicted of the murder of his girlfriend Elizabeth Baldwin 31 and sentenced to death.

He strangled her at Olive Street, Middlesbrough on 13 May 1906.

After strangling her he surrendered himself to the police and told them that they would find Elizabeth Baldwin dead at their lodgings.

The prosecution said that the strangled her after becoming jealous about another man but he said that he did it in self-defence during a drunken quarrel.
