John Griffiths murdered hi ex-girlfriend Catherine Garrity 17 who he strangled at Shaw, near Oldham on 19 December 1905.
They had been dating for a while but Catherine Garrity broke off their relationship after John Griffiths beat her and also in another incident beat a man who had stopped to talk to her.
